SI Mom, Four Kids Mourned In Funerals

2010_07_sirefire29.jpg Yesterday, a funeral service was held in Brooklyn for the Staten Island mother and her four children who died last month. Leisa Jones killed her children, 14-year-old C.J., 10-year-old Brittnie, 7-year-old Melonie and 2-year-old Jermaine, and then herself. Their bodies were found after a fire in their Port Richmond apartment and it emerged that Jones had been struggling financially. Another funeral is being held in D.C. today, followed by a burial. The Brooklyn Funeral Home's owner Anthony Cassieri is paying for all the service; he told the Staten Island Advance, "This happened not far from where I live. No matter what happened, it’s still a tragedy. [The mother] was obviously in a very bad place."

Ah, I remember when my kids were young and this happened in Montclair. It was heartbreaking. It still is.

"'[The mother] was obviously in a very bad place.'"

Is it safe to presume that still will be in a very bad place? I kid. It's a tragedy all around, though. We may never well know what set her off.
