NYC Leads Country in Millionaires

080410rich.jpg Well Bloomberg can rest easy now, because according to the 2010 U.S. Wealth Metro Index, the city has more High Net Worth Individuals than the next top three cities (Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C.) combined. New York had 667,200 millionaires in 2009, up 18.7% from 2008. They also predict the HNWIs will get even richer next year. So now it's just a matter of days until their taxes plug up all the budget gaps, right? We'll be waiting patiently for the MTA to put back all of those bus lines.

not sure why everyone hates bloomberg for having more millionaires in new york city. makes no sense to me and i think it's a bit of ignorant response. yeah, bloomberg is rich. good for him. he's a fine example of a wealthy individual. a hard worker, dedicated to everything he does, and hell, he's giving away a large chunk of his wealth to help those in need. read about it here if you'd like.

    oh, and stop being ignorant.

It's all bullshit. As mayor of this city he can help the poor of NY everyday but instead he screws them every which way possible. If he's so giving he should have saved St. Vincent's Hospital for New York City's residents. Sure anyone can TALK about giving but talk is cheap.

All these regressive taxes that disproportionately affects the poor he loves them but if you mention a tax that affects the millionaires he goes nuts.

Imagine a man that calls NY's poorest residents "stupid" for asking developers who are getting taxpayer subsidies (corporate welfare) to pay workers $10/hr calling himself a fucking philanthropist.

I welcome all the millionaires in the world to New York City but they should know that with "great power comes great responsibility" and helping out fellow New Yorkers with their taxes should be an honor to them. It won't kill them or drive them to the poor house.

After you finish reading Bloomberg's pathetic bullshit on Giving Pledge then read a real American hero Warren Buffet's Pledge. You will notice his humility and the fact that he acknowledges and deeply appreciates his unique position. There's no sense of entitlement or self importance. He knows that while he worked hard and deserves his riches so have others but through life's circumstances weren't able to attain the wealth he has. He is truly a man of integrity and nothing like Bloomberg who just from reading his pledge you can clearly see that he's just doing it to try to secure some kind of legacy by trying to follow in the footsteps of real philanthropists.

    Bloomberg is a despicable man.
