Guess The Year: Nice Digs Edition

Before steel grey highrise condos took over the city streets, there were gorgeous residential buildings like these. Guess which year (and neighborhood/borough) this photo was shot in—we'll update this post later with the answer and more details.

UPDATE: This photo was taken on November 27th, 1935. The caption reads, "Man leaving gate of 5 Gramercy Park, decorative ironwork adorns houses, which also have iron lamps at base of stairs." We've added a current photo of the area today. The home was built in 1900, and according to this website was last sold in 2004 for $5.4MM. It's a multi-family building, and here's what an apartment in there looks like.

the buildings look like the ones i've seen on w houston st, west of 6th ave -- victorian brick townhouses; they're not brownstones. and i'll say 1893 because of the exterior metal decorations; does anyone have them anymore?
