What's New, It's Really Too Hot Again

2010_07_hotsat.jpg So today's near record heat will feel like like something over 100 degrees, when you factor in the humidity. At least that's according to Accuweather, which says that with the expected high of 98 degrees, it'll feel more like...107. And there may be some storms on the way from the Midwest—gah!

With the extreme heat, the city has issued a heat advisory, opened cooling centers and wants people to keep hydrated and cool (also, check on neighbors, especially the elderly, young children and those with special needs). And for those of you heading to the beach to cool off, WABC 7 reports, "There is a warning for those who head to the beach Saturday that there could be dangerously strong rip currents. Swimmers are advised to only head into the water where a lifeguard is on duty."

Additionally, the city has reported a second heat-related death on July 6, which was 103 degrees.

It's a tie! The temperature in Central Park reached 97 degrees this afternoon. That ties the record set in 1999.
