Arcade Fire To Play MSG, The Internet

phpl0PBc0PM.jpg It's a little bit sad that out of all the beautiful venues in New York City that could have visually complemented the sound of Arcade Fire, they went with MSG—but now you don't even have to step foot inside of the venue to get the concert experience. Like so many other big live shows these days (we live in the future!) it will be live streamed on YouTube. The band will be playing there August 4th and 5th, following the release of their new album The Suburbs, and the latter show will streamed live.

Drummer Jeremy Gara says, "As soon as we booked it, it felt a little ominous. Playing there by itself is pretty exciting... and now this live broadcasting." Long gone are the days the band played Mercury Lounge, but let's hope they bring back their much more intimate 2005 busking routine this year.

    I don't get this band.

from what I understand it's a band that white, cool people think is awesome.

Uh and they are going to do horrible ticket sales if they think they can play MSG two days. They're not even a big enough band for one day. This is dumb.

How wrong you are. The 1st show is sold out and the other will at least come close as soon as more fans hear their new cd which will be their biggest by far. They played at Randall's Island to a much larger crowd on their last tour. They will not be playing The Bowery Ballroom any more. As for MSG, I have seen over 50 concerts there, a majority quite memorable. The place seems to bring the best out of some artists.

Wow, so ALL of Williamsburg is going, you say?

Artists do their fans a great disservice when they play large arenas. MSG is a terrible music venue.

So, the music industry is reeling from declining albums sales, is basically staying afloat due to live performance revenue, and Arcade Fire is gonna start giving THOSE away free now too?

    Okie-Dokie.

I'm gonna sound like an "old" here, but the kids of tomorrow are gonna be nerds.

Hahaha! What the FUCK are you talking about! If the band doesn't totally blow, or you didn't pay $80 to see recycled garbage, MSG is one of the greatest rooms on the planet. Loud as shit, and the place will shake when shit gets real.

Terminal 5 is a terrible music venue.
