Infamous EMT Will Get Full-Honor Funeral

The fatally shot EMT who was under investigation for allegedly ignoring a dying pregnant woman because he was on break will get a funeral with full FDNY honors. Jason Green, who was gunned down early Sunday morning during a Soho street fight, will be buried next week, and an FDNY source tells the Post, "The family wanted the honor guard. They wanted the pipes and drums and the lineup of people in uniform when the casket went into the hearse."

To the end, Green denied turning his back on Eutisha Rennix as she suffered a seizure in a downtown Brooklyn Au Bon Pan, and he had not been convicted of any wrongdoing. But one irate EMT tells the tabloid, "I'm stunned he's having an honor guard. He died in a street fight over a parking spot. You're giving him a sendoff with honors? He watched a woman die in a coffee shop. That should not warrant the pipe and drums corps." Green's funeral will take place at the Quinn Funeral Home in Long Island City at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, police investigating his murder have released the three men they'd been questioning.

    I hate misinformed people...

LISTEN, although his title was an EMT, Jason was ACTUALLY A COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER/DISPATCHER!!! As a communications officer the only equipment you carry is a HEADSET. No tech bag, no medical equipment, no rubber gloves, no universal precautions, NOTHING!!! I mean honestly, this day and age I WOULD NEVER TOUCH A PERSON WITHOUT UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS, and that's just the basics. WOULD YOU??

I hate the media and how they are blowing this thing out of proportion.

Jason did not do ANYTHING different than any other FDNY communications officer. Trust me if he had, he would have been fired..

I'm glad he was buried in an honorable manner. Until YOU have been a FDNY/EMS dispatcher you have no idea what he delt with on a daily basis...UNTIL YOU HAVE WALKED IN HIS SHOES AND KNOW HIS JOB, YOUR OPINIONS ARE RHETORIC.

I am sick that this guy gets any kind of honor.....this guy DID NOT deserve to be honored. First off....he didn't do his job by sitting back and just watching someone die when he could've help to save a life....then the creep gets into a street fight. I am appauled at the fact that he was even able to keep his job. It's all good now though....what GOES AROUND COMES AROUND AGAIN....now this CREEP is paying for it in a BURNING HELL!!!

  • Matt Joyce

From what I read of the event, as in... actual facts not ZOMG NEWS DRAMATIZATION, the guy literally did nothing wrong. He called in the problem and did his job. He wasn't on duty as an EMT, he didn't have gear, and he hadn't worked as an EMT in two years. He was a dispatch operator.

So you know what. I am sorry for his family. Firstly, because he died as the result of a criminal's violent actions. Secondly, because their fellow citizens are too bloody stupid to realize the guy didn't do anything wrong.

In short, every single person who has commented to date on this, is exactly the sort of person that should NEVER be allowed to vote. They are incapable of coherent rational thought. Shame on all of you.

This comment is for:Gaelic47/Stephenson and all those who are jusging this young mans life.... before anyone on here starts to judge someone by their life they need to turn and look in the mirror and look at theirself noone is perfect on this earth not you,me or Mr. Green. We don't know what happened that night or that December day all we hear is what the media is putting out there. And the media lies. I can tell you one thing is family is mourning the loss of a son, brother and grandchild so those who are making the smart remars and comments about jerkoff and infamous EMT,know that he was not fired from his job so he must have done something right!!!!!!!!!!!!

It still stinks that they think someone deserves 'honors' when they walked away while a pregnant woman and her unborn baby choked and died.

  • Tony

For once in my life, I would like to see the Westboro Baptist Church at this funeral.

  • leepresson

Actually his family is paying for the funeral and the honor guard is volunteer (off duty) personnel.

  • NYDirk

    Infamous E.M.T.?

    I have all his albums!

  • Stephenson

Another crazy idea from you Obama liberals and your unions. Great the gov't is paying for all the pomp and circumstance.

  • Gaelic47

Yes, Obama supporters created the idea of unions within the past year and a half. Also, we had a meeting and decided to give this scumbag EMT a full honor guard funeral at tax payer expense, despite the fact that his family is paying for it and the honor guard is made up of off duty personnel.

It's all our fault that this jerkoff got in a fight for a parking spot in front of a club at 5 o'clock in the freakin morning. Yup, you got us liberals all figured out.

  • bashmentgirl

The "irate EMT" must know something FDNY supervisors and investigators don't. If Mr. Green had not helped Ms. Rennix he would have been fired. Mr. Green helped many New Yorkers during his employment as an EMT. Mr. Green's death is a tragedy and as an FDNY EMT, he is entitled to a full honor funeral.

  • Clarice City

It diminishes the honor of men and women that served the community well. He did not serve his community well by eating a bagel while a woman died at his feet and getting himself shot in a street fight outside a sleazy club. Chirst, what's next? A street remaning?

  • missunderstood525

I think you need to look into what Mr. Green position was in the FDNY before you just him in saying he did not service his community. if you don't want to look let me give you a brief overlap: he was a EMT dispatcher (trainee) he was not equipped nor trained in the field of helping that young lady. I feel sorry for her families loss but Mr. Green family also loss someone and all you people can think about is how he died and Enniux death. him and his coworker called 911, if they were to have done something that they were not trained to do they would of been in more trouble so dont speak before you know that facts the media will feed you the wrong information just TO GET A STORY.....NO MATTER WHO IT HURTS!

  • bashmentgirl

If he had did nothing while that poor woman lay dying, then he would have been fired-- not suspended-- fired.

  • NannyState

He did slightly more than nothing for thay poor woman. Which means he was slightly more than nothing himself.

  • kazubes

How so? Do cops that die in drunk driving accidents or firefighters/emts that get shot in personal off duty disputes typically get full honor guard funeral processions the same as if they had died in the line of duty?

  • bashmentgirl

Mr. Green did not die hurting anyone or putting someone else's life in danger as a drunk driver would. Mr. Green's did not carry a gun. Mr. Green was a law abiding citizen who died during a dispute with someone who had a gun. It could happen to anyone.

  • kazubes

He did not die hurting anyone? My understanding was that he was in a fight with someone...he wasnt exactly walking down the street minding his own business. Did he deserve to be shot? No, but he was no innocent angel

  • bashmentgirl

"Did he deserve to be shot? No, but he was no innocent angel."

You have two opposing views. You should pick one. Either he did not deserve to be shot, or he was no angel which implies that he deserved to be shot.

Mr. Green got into an argument over a parking spot, he didn't deserve to die over it. Mr. Green wasn't some thug who carried around a gun in his waist. How many of us have gotten into silly arguments? Maybe you could judge him if he had a weapon, but he did not. Mr. Green was an EMT who was experienced two unfortunate events. First he was wrongly accused of not aiding a dying pregnant woman. Then he was he got into an argument with someone who had a gun and was killed.

  • bashmentgirl

    I should have wrote"someone's" not "someone else's"
