Last Night's Action: A Wild End To The Weekend

  • Mets 4 San Francisco 3 (10 Innings): K-Rod got the win, but David Wright, Phil Cuzzi and Ike Davis combined for “the save”. Rodriguez was awful, blowing a great start by Johan Santana as he melted down in the ninth and blew a 3-1 lead. K-Rod was almost ejected from the game for arguing a call, but David Wright saved him. That was the first save of the game and the second came moments later when Phil Cuzzi blew an obvious call at home that would have given the Giants the game. Ike Davis doubled in a run in the 10th and K-Rod managed to preserve the win by striking out Eli Whiteside with the tying run on second.

  • Yankees 9 Tampa Bay 5: What could have been a disaster turned into one of the better wins of the year. Andy Pettitte gave up three runs in the first and had to leave the game in the third injury due to a groin injury. But the Yankees battled back. Robinson Cano had a two-run triple to get the Yankees on the board and Derek Jeter put the Yankees up for good with a RBI in the fifth. The Yankees now have a three-game lead in the AL East.

I don't know what the reason is, but Baseball Umpires are now rattled. They are making multiple bad calls. Yesterday's botched decisions both harmed and helped the Mets. The worst bad call was, of course, the First Base ruling that cost Armando Galarraga his perfect game.

Santana could have pitched the ninth inning. Manuel cannot manage the fucking bullpen to save his job. He is a terrible manager. FRod is Doug Sisk with a fastball

Make no mistake, K-Rod is awful, pretty well consistently awful. I wouldn't be surprised if they found Johan laughing some sinister laugh over K-Rod's dead body some day soon. Johan is the best pitcher in the majors with so few wins, in large part because K-Rod seems to be uniquely qualified to blow saves. Thank goodness for Ike Davis.
