Elderly Woman Allegedly Raped in Bronx Building

071910elevator.jpg Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly beat and raped a 79-year-old woman in her apartment building in the Bronx earlier this morning. The suspect, described as a man in his 20s, allegedly pulled the victim out of her elevator around 2 a.m. He then punched her in the face, raped her, and fled. One neighbor told WCBS, "It's sad, somebody that old, an elderly woman like that who doesn't do anything to anyone." Police are examining surveillance footage and also canvassing a nearby subway station to see if the suspect used the train to get away.

"I wish I could kill people..."

    ---really?

  • freddynyc

The perp is mostly a filthy Irish scoundrel no doubt....

Why such a vague story and no real description?

I think I know but if I tell you guys do you promise not to get mad?

I pretty sure it's because she was probably a minority. Had this been a caucasian 79 year old woman, it would be frontpage news and the cops would undoubtedly put a lot more effort into the investigation. But since it was probably a low income, minority, in a bad area, it barely makes the police blotter.

    Sad but true.

If you check the source article that's linked, there's a police sketch and a description of the perp.

"He's 5-foot-7 and was wearing a black baseball cap, black t-shirt with a white design on the rear, dark jeans and dark shoes."

  • CaptainMXC

OMG...they completely rewrote the article since I last visited it! That's really odd and creepy..don't they usually write a new article with new info? Really unnerving and bizarre. Believe me people there was no mention of Westchester Sq or a sketch etc etc when I looked at the article on WCBS...

I told you you were going to get mad.

So you mean to tell me that you honestly believe that if this was a wealthy 79 year old woman, living on Park Avenue, the media wouldn't have given it more attention and the police wouldn't have investigated it more intensely?

Do you really believe that? Honestly?

I refuse to believe that you're that naive.

  • John L

    Oops I left out "Caucasian"

It should read "a wealthy 79 year old CAUCASIAN woman, living on Park Avenue"

  • CaptainMXC

The WCBS article is even worse. No cross streets, no area, and it happened less than 2 blocks from "a subway"...can't even tell us what the subway is? Why the cover-up? I would like to know where I need to be careful and from whom... no height, no ethnicity, no info about what he was wearing. This is really disturbing.

Just keep an eye out for a white, Asian, hispanic or black man between 4 feet and 7 feet tall, weighing between 90 and 450 lbs wearing clothing (or not) and you'll be safe. If you see anyone fitting that description, please contact the police immediately.

It couldn't have been dave chappelle, I saw him whacking off in front of his window from 6pm to 5am.

  • pretender

yeah, really! what the heck kind of description is that?

    BOLO: man, 20s

  • Guav

"The suspect, described as a man in his 20s ..."

Wow, that really narrows it down—thanks for the info, I'll be sure to keep an eye out.

  • eyekantspel

Not sure allegedly belongs in the headline.

  • henryhamilton

Agreed. It should not be in there at all, unless referring to a specific suspect.

  • r1b2

Please find the rubbish that did this and string him up by his sac.

  • Wza

    Smh..horrible.

  • Nyctini11

What was the elderly woman doing out at that time of night/morning, alone??
