WTF Is Going On With The FML Subway Signs?

The MTA finally fixed the FML subway signage at 14th Street... except now it's more F'd up than before! Our photographer Katie Sokoler spotted the replacement stickers and tells us:

"One is a sign on the L platform that leads you to the L, M, M train. And the other is on the stairs and directs you to the L, F, L train. Which makes it more confusing is that those are the stairs that lead you to the 1,2,3 train. So not only is the sign wrong because it says L,F,L but it's wrong because it should actually be 1,2,3. There were tons of people that were confused and kept walking up and down the stairs trying to figure out which train is where."

"So not only is the sign wrong because it says L,F,L but it's wrong because it should actually be 1,2,3" Is not true. It's not a sign saying go back up the stairs and back down the long tunnel you just came from. It's rather suppose to mean "turn around to get to the F & M trains"

I saw a girl in her late 20's puting those stickers late Sunday.

It may have been the work of pranksters, but the cleanup effort will cost about 1.7 million dollars and will only be half-complete by the year 2016.

Changing FML is dumb. Every three letter combination "stands for" something. Who cares!

  • sounds like some MTA employees need an even bigger salary.

As of three days ago, there was still an FML on the 12th street side of the 123 uptown platform: http://tweetphoto.com/31592741

Ahh, remember pranks? They used to happen a lot more frequently back when people still had senses of humor.

Not a fan of the MTA but this is obviously a prank and not the MTAs fault.

I'm with you and youngpro on this one. It's almost too easy to assume negligence on the presumably uneducated overtime abusing MTA employees.

    Pranksters!

clearly someone with bootleg stickers just messing the people and hoping to blame the mta.

Another example of how the MTA is a wasteful organization. Now MORE money will need to be spent fixing something that wasn't a problem in the first place. Can someone with half a brain take the reigns and un-fuck this mess?
