  • Yankees 8 Seattle 2: At the break the Yankees have the best record in baseball and a two-game lead on the Tampa Bay Rays. CC Sabathia cruised to his 12th win with seven innings of six-hit, no-run ball. Marcus Thames homered and Mark Teixeira added four hits.
  • Mets 3 Atlanta 0: Desperately needing a win the Mets turned to Johan Santana and he delivered. Santana earned his 7th win of the year with seven shutout innings and five strikeouts. Ike Davis hit his 11th home run of the year while K-Rod earned his 21st save.

Can we please use the All-Star break and the July 31 trade deadline to deal Joba to another team? Another blown save, ERA around 6.

RIP Bob Sheppard....no mention at all of his passing on this site? The man was the voice of the Yankees for over 50 years and a true NY icon. Way to go Gotahmist, you really have your finger on the pulse of this city.
