Knicks Have Another Meeting With LeBron's Team

OMG, the Knicks had another meeting with LeBron James. Well, not exactly James himself. Knicks GM Donnie Walsh confirmed to ESPN "that the Knicks' sent assistant GM Glen Grunwald to Cleveland for a second meeting with LeBron's agent, Leon Rose, on Saturday. But he said the meeting was just to clarify the team's cap situation both this year and the next. 'We didn't get into it in our first meeting the way we wanted to,' Walsh said. 'We just wanted to make sure they had all the information.'"

In other words, the Knicks didn't get their point across in their Thursday meeting. Or they wanted to point out their $100 million offer to Amare Stoudemire. Still, the NY Times wants to put things in perspective, "A second meeting with James could heighten the Knicks’ hopes of landing him and increase the disappointment if he signs elsewhere. The Knicks were not the first team that secured additional face time with Rose; the Miami Heat president, Pat Riley, and Andy Elisburg, a senior vice president, met Rose the evening before the team’s delegation made a pitch to James on Friday."

Yesterday, the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reported, "According to multiple league sources, the Knicks were trailing other competitors in the running to sign James. The Cavs and Bulls are believed to be the favorites with the New Jersey Nets still in the game mostly because of James' relationship with part owner Jay-Z." It's believed that James will make up his mind on Thursday, after his three-day LeBron James Skills Academy finishes on Wednesday.

The Knicks don't have a team ! They have a bunch of third string players ! Sorry but it's the ugly truth, The only reason Lebron would consider coming too the Knicks would have to be marketing his brand . But if you think about it , The man has done that in Cleveland ! Why leave both home , and where you established yourself ? Answer; The front office and or the owner either can't attract the right chemistry of talent , OR They don't want to pay for it . The Cavs fired the Head coach because of the past years playoff exits, (Not his fault) Traded away players . Teams with super star players don't give up on them by devaluing the pieces around them . Chicago would a good fit for Lebron because (Yes I know some of you reading this will think chicago is the worst place)they have a nice core, and most importantly no one has a ring their ! You can't say that about Miami and Wade . All of this would be if Lebron were serious about leaving the Cavs . And he isn't !

"Or they wanted to point out their $100 million offer to Amare Stoudemire."

Not really an "offer" yet. Stoudemire's agent worded it as "the structure of an offer on the table." The Knicks can't sign James if they make that deal with Stoudemire, and reports are that they've told Stoudemire that their interest in him is contingent upon what LeBron does.

Which probably means that their meetings with LeBron's agent in the past few days are to try to get it clarified whether there's any chance of him signing with them. If not, they have to move on, and right now they don't know in which direction to go.
