Four people were killed in incidents in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens yesterday. According to the Daily News, the first incident was before 1 a.m. in Harlem, when "Edward Meyers, 44, of Queens, was stabbed to death at W. 112th St. and Lenox Ave." Then, a 49-year-old homeless man, Richard Salters, was shot at a deli in Far Rockaway, just after 2 a.m., following an argument with three other men.

At 5:15 a.m., three people were shot when a man was turned away from a Rogers Avenue party in Brooklyn. The suspect shot eighteen-year-old Michael Gonzales in the chest, and hit two others in their arms; Gonzales later died at a hospital. Finally, at 8:30 p.m., a 19-year-old man was fatally shot on Dean Street near Troy Avenue.

Last week, it was reported that the NYPD was increasing its overnight patrols, after a spike in crime (when comparing 2010 year-to-date to 2009 year-to-date stats) revealed an 11% jump in murders (221, vs. 2009's 199), 13% increase in rapes (629 vs. 55) and a 7% hike in shootings (799 vs. 748). And last year, the NY Times looked at NYC crime data over seven years and found that the city becomes a "distinctly lethal place" during the summer months.

One person may have been murdered in Forest Hills as well because it had a Forest Hills location on the map. Anyone know if this was the case? It was at 12AM

On gothamist a FATAL SHOOTING was reported. Unclear what happened and who got killed and why.

In one location there is constant perp and evidence searches and a body was found allegedly. This has been going on for weeks now with stuff being reported like this. Also both vendors in the area have allegedly closed sans the Movie Theatre on the Southside of the block.

The other location seems to also be a trouble spot.
