  • From the Gothamist Newsmap: A stabbing on Jerome Street in Brooklyn, a car fire on 168th Street in Queens and an all hands fire on W 125th Street in Manhattan.
  • The city's new budget will cut $16.2 million from libraries. Lone no-voter Charles Barron said, "The pain that the people of New York will be suffering, as you celebrate your budget balancing, it didn't have to happen."
  • Starting in September, the 1 train will be suspended for 28 weekends between the Dyckman and 242nd Street stations, due to a $45 million construction project.
  • Conservative commentator Bill Kristol is calling for RNC chair Michael Steele's resignation after this video surfaced of him saying the war in Afghanistan was a war of "Obama's choosing" and "not something the United States had actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in."
  • Jennifer Convertibles CEO Harley Greenfield is being sued by the family of Mohammed Rohman, who was struck by Greenfield as he crossed the Whitestone Expressway in April. Greenfield admitted to drinking a glass of vodka and a glass of wine before he drove that night.
