Mom Sues, Says Teacher Duct Taped Student's Mouth

phpsgRHB6AM.jpg Did a Brooklyn teacher duct tape a special ed student's mouth shut? That's what one mother, Cathy Allan, is claiming. She has now filed a $3 million lawsuit against the NYC Department of Education. Details are scarce, and the city is talking for now, but according to the NY Post, after Allan "complained about the punishment of her son, Nathaniel Harrell, 12, in April 2009, the school suspended the boy."

"Oh, it's SOOO terrible, but pay me some money and everything will be okay again"

What kind of a scumbag uses their kids suffering as a way to get rich?

  • ...

Someone does that to a child, you call the police and have them arrested.

If it's true: I hope she wins.

suspended? The city schools don't suspend anyone.

I will second the fact that this is probably justified. $3million!? Nathan is probably scarred for life, so yeah, 3 mil is justified. Next!

He probably needed it. Yay for teacher. Smart mouthed 12 year old pre-teens can be some of the most persistent annoyances in a classroom. I taught 7th grade for 5 years. Half of them have mouths like sailors, no respect for anyone, and the inability to know when to shut it down. But I'm sure in this case he was such a "good boy."

Normally I'd agree with you, but you may want to read the story again. He was a special ed student.
