Musical performances, art installations, film screenings, panel discussions, and a host of other projects took place at the launch of the new all-day cultural festival, Creators Project. Organized by Vice Magazine and the Intel Corporation, more than 90 artists took part in the event this past Saturday, the first of five "global summits" that will take place this summer in cities across the world. Thousands of hipsters, helpsters and art aficionados fluttered in and out of Milk Studios during the day, perusing through three floors worth of art projects (though many stopped to watch the U.S. World Cup match on a large screen projector).

Among the highlights were a screening of Spike Jonze's new short film, I'm Here, about two robots falling in love in LA; the installation piece "Shred Master Pro" by the design studio LEGS, where guitar, drums and keyboard gave the user control over a series of online videos; and a surprise performance by MIA, who opened with her redhead-hating single "Born Free." There were also live performances by Interpol, with its new five-man lineup, Mark Ronson, Die Antwoord, The Rapture, Sleigh Bells, Gang Gang Dance, Neon Indian, Salem and N.A.S.A.
