Why Not Park These 5 Red Bull Cars in the Bike Lane?

Check out this Red Bullshit. Coinciding with their big carbon-spewing air race over the Hudson River this weekend, Red Bull is trying to further increase their brand awareness with these promotional vehicles, seen here parked in the specially dedicated d-bag parking zone on Second Avenue. And what's really irksome is that they probably parked there knowing full well we'd take the bait and publish this photo, playing right into their viral marketing strategy. Nice moves, Red Bull; we'll remember this the next time we silently judge someone for mixing vodka with your vile swill. (Via Brian Van and Ohhleary.)

Please post pictures of the gnarled traffic jam of cyclists who had to endure this affront...

    lol

Red Bull tastes like shit anyway. No amount of pr is gonna get me to drink one more sip of that garbage. Last time I drank that cess, I was trying to stay awake on a long-d drive, and I had 4 of them, and even then it didn't work.

    "basically just a misunderstanding"

    Ah, PR office b.s.

Look, they parked there because they don't care that it's not legal. Worst that can happen is they get parking tickets that have to paid out of their multi-million dollar promotional budget.

The whole point of these vehicles is for them to be seen, and it's much more eye-catching to have their rolling billboards all lined up on the street than hidden away in a parking garage somewhere.

That air race is gonna be the bomb dot com.

Someone spoke to the NY Red Bull office about this, basically just a misunderstanding, and the signage isn't exactly clear about the bike lane yet. (you'd think the cyclists using the big green lane would be a dead giveaway though).

  • NattyB

    HAha, they didn't know.

    They just don't give a F---!

  • grandzu

    They should be stickered.

So you justify a parking violation with the commission of criminal mischief?

  • henryhamilton

Too bad their not marijuana plants, they would be gone by now.

"Carbon-spewing" LOL, those little aircraft spew out less carbon than a Nascar does in an average race. And the red bull air race is at least worth watching.

Most of the carbon comes from moving the teams between locations. You may as well hate the World Cup too, considering how many extra Boeings flew across the world for that one.

  • stipulation

"carbon spewing" air race? come on john. would be just as fair to describe you as an "energy draining" computer user.

but yeah, that sucks about the bike lane.

  • Dan

I would have called the local precinct.

  • jaycjay

Yeah! Because no one cares more about enforcing parking regulations than a Manhattan-based precinct cop!

  • JacqueMehoff

they were just following what the white van up front was doing.
