I've been on that block many times late at night, coming home from a friend's house... when there is no traffic people go 100 mph and who knows how many drunks are on the road anyway. Usually there are cops in the Dunkin Donuts but they cannot run out and give tix to everyone (I'm not ragging on cops; they really are at the DD)

It's not naive. 2-ton SUVs with horrible visibility aren't necessary in any way.

i live on atlantic between 3rd and 4th and my initial thought was: wow, ive never seen traffic moving at more than 3mph that intersection ever. but i guess at 3am its a different story.

traffic around atlantic terminal is a ****-show, nonstop. its gridlocked always, people lay on horns, attempt to make lefts where they shouldnt, etc. there are generally traffic cops there during the day, but even then they wave traffic through when pedestrians have the signal.

like paulie said, its so terrible now, i cant even begin to imagine how awful its going to be with the stadium moving forward.

I really, really hate cars. Forget assigning blame, if there wasn't a car involved, the pedestrian would be fine.

And yes, I know that's naive, I know cars are a necessary evil, but they suck.

Just wait till the stadium is finished....

How many other three-way intersections in New York see this much car traffic AND pedestrian traffic?
