A full sized yellow school bus carrying kids to an after-school program hit and pinned a woman in Gravesend yesterday afternoon. The victim was stuck fully conscious under the bus for about 15 minutes before being taken to Lutheran Hospital. The Safe Coach Bus driver said he didn't see her crossing the street at Stillwell Avenue and Kings Highway, and told the Post, "I hope she's not hurt. I don't want to get in trouble."

The victim is expected to survive, but the accident was so bloody that the driver begged the kids not to look. But 14-year-old Dillon Alibocas snuck a peek, and said, "She was laying under the bus, her leg was crushed, it had a big gash in it and her dress was completely ripped. It was crazy." Safe Coach Bus staff also arrived at the scene, and walked all 28 kids to their destination at the Edith and Carl Marks Jewish Community House of Bensonhurst.

The Safe Coach Bus driver said he didn't see her crossing the street at Stillwell Avenue and Kings Highway

The "didn't see" excuse seems to have surpassed "brakes did not work/accelerator got stuck" excuse as the most popular for use by drivers after they have struck/maimed/killed a pedestrian. I guess that alibi has more traction, as it is not subject to mechanical investigation.

The motor vehicle carnage continues unabated in this city. Buses, taxis and delivery trucks continue to maim, injure and kill New Yorkers, while our Mayor, Council people and law enforcement pretend to look the other way. That will continue until someone in the city who has "clout" loses a friend, family member, limb or life in an auto-related incident. Then maybe the motor vehicle laws will be enforced.

While walking to work this morning, around 36th and 14th (Borough Park), a man in his 40's driving a full-sized Safe Coach Bus ran the stop sign and almost hit me. I had to dive out of the way. He flailed his arms in a complaining manner, as if I shouldn't have walked in the crosswalk when he BLEW RIGHT THROUGH THE GODDAMN STOP SIGN.

It seems that drivers in this community (Hatzolah ambulances included, as seen this weekend on 100th and Broadway) are always in a hurry, mostly for no reason whatsoever, and will drive recklessly just to get somewhere on time, not caring about the well-being of others in the process.

    Thanks for bashing Hatzolah ambulances.

Perhaps we're in a hurry somtimes because we don't patients to be stuck under a bus for 15 minutes?

    Idiot.

How come it suddenly seems there are so many incidents involving buses? Or have there always been this many?
