3G iPhones Still Good Enough For Stealing!

ihound0610.jpg Prior to the new iPhone getting unveiled, thieves have been busy swiping the old, clunky, may-as-well-be-rotary iPhone 3Gs out of straphanger's hands. According to the Brooklyn Paper's police blotter files, a 36-year-old on the Manhattan-bound C chased his perp down Fulton Street before losing him, and a 31-year-old woman on the Brooklyn-bound G train had a teen swipe her phone and exit at Fulton Street as well. Or maybe they just wanted excuses to buy the new 4G? Either way, now is a good time to remind you that there are apps like iHound that allow you to track your stolen (or lost) phone... though we wouldn't recommend knocking on the perp's door.

Insurance. Seriously. SquareTrade and Worth Avenue Group, among others, sell iPhone insurance for about $50 a year, with a $50 deductible. The policies cover not only theft and loss, but accidental damage as well.

I'm starting to think Apple hires people to steal older iPhones right before the new ones come out. I had an Edge iPhone that got ripped out of my hand one week before the 3G came out. hmmmmm... $$$$$

correction: its called ROBBERY, not stealing.
