Late For Work? Get a Note From The MTA

We're sure every time you're late for work it's because of those pesky, slow subways, right? Now you can prove it to your boss with a note from the MTA! Though straphangers have been using the Authority's call-in system for years, but they unveiled a new e-mail system yesterday, that takes only five to 15 days for verification.

Riders can enter details about trains, transfers and timing for a full report on delays. Mailed on NYC Transit letterhead, the reports will describe the maximum delay possible for certain lines. If it matches the story you fed to your boss, you're off the hook! NYC Transit President Tom Prendergast told the Post, "While we do our best to make sure every trip is on time, things can and do happen." Of course, what would be really great is if the MTA got it's act together and stopped with the slow service altogether, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

  • It is going to take MTA 21 days to verified, honestly, by that time, people would have been already fired!

They have "excuse notes" in the Tokyo subway, but that's only because the Tokyo subway's remarkable punctuality establishes a guaranteed train schedule.

Not to sound entirely sarcastic, I do hope this is a first step in establishing such a precedent here.

The latest I have ever been late was 1.5hrs and it was because of the F train. Good pic choice!
