Confirmed!: Bronx Zoo Lion Cubs Are Adorable

lioncubs06.jpg

And with this headline from the NY Times, it's official: "Bronx Zoo’s New Lion Cubs Are Impossibly Cute." Yes, there is an entire article dedicated to the fact, which is sort of cute in and of itself... except for when the writer—David Rooney—refers to the video of the cubs playing at the zoo as "kitty porn" (there's a state for you, sir, it's called New Jersey).

When Rooney gets to the zoo for his first visit with Nala, Adamma, & Shani, he recalls: "we made a beeline for the African Plains. There the cubs were—four months old and now the size of freakishly large house cats, with paws almost as big as their heads." They grow up so fast, don't they—will you be visiting before they're off to college? Because, you know, next thing you know...

Aww Gothamist is taking issue with the cuteness of a NY Times article...isn't that...cute? I guess if it's not some hipster happening, like a "zombie walkathon," it's not worth covering?

I'm normally the one to post simply to say how I hate people or to give some sort of negative commentary. While I am not a zoo fan, I just take one look at these lil critters and think Awwww. Enjoy the cuteness of the picture without the politics every once in a while. It's Friday!

animal cruelty doesnt become unimportant just because it is friday

  • Dead Himmler

I'm not a big fan of zoos myself but if the goal is to spread awareness of their plight in africa than that's what it is. I think they were actually given a grant to do just that.

if the goal is preserve these creatures and get people to care, then they must have some connection to them, be it behind bars, or even in other ways, such as reading a book.

caring is the first step, then action.

    *steps off soapbox*
