Lots of sun and a light breeze out of the southwest have brought a warm start to Memorial Day. It's already over 80 degrees. The mercury will climb into the upper 80s in the city before the wind shifts to the east and puts a brake on the heating this afternoon.
The high pressure system bringing us the sun will slip eastward overnight. On its heels is a warm front that will bring plenty of moisture and instability. Rain is possible overnight but showers and thunderstorms are more likely to occur tomorrow. Some of those storms could be real soakers. Despite the clouds the temperature will still reach the low 80s for a nice, steamy start to June. Tuesday is also the official start of hurricane season. NOAA is expecting a busy season in the Atlantic.
Dry weather returns behind a cold front on Wednesday. Look for a high in the low 80s under sunny skies. Thursday's high could reach 90. Beyond that it is looking like a warm, stormy mess of a weekend.
