NJ Student Dies After Being Robbed, Dragged By Car In AZ

053010sousa.jpg A 21-year-old woman from New Jersey died in Arizona after being dragged alongside a car during a purse-snatching. Arizona State University student Kyleigh Sousa had been talking to a man in a car when he grabbed her purse and attempted to speed away. Sousa was tangled with the handbag, and was dragged about 20 feet before breaking loose and hitting the asphalt. She died Wednesday night from her injuries. Police are investigating the crime as a homicide, and Sousa's mom said, "We need that one call, that one piece of information to lead us to a suspect or suspects in this case."

who would have thought that Arizona aspires to be the Newark, NJ of the midwest?

  • just saying

    So when did Arizona move?

  • It's very important that this not be seen as a race-dependent incident. The fact that the suspect is described as Hispanic does not mean that Hispanics have a proclivity for violent crimes. Poverty, alienation from centralized government, and persecution give people a proclivity for this type of criminal act. This man should be punished to the full extent of the law, not all Hispanics.

My condolences go to Kyleigh's family.

I find it disturbing that this crime was so brutal and yet media outlets in the west are reporting the description of a "heavy set Hispanic male" that is still at large and, to the contray, the media outlets in the east omit this information.

Too politically sensitive to report the description of a potential murderer just because he's latino and the crime was committed in AZ? Stupid.

At what point in history were mexicans enslaved?

  • Clarice City

Most of the world has been enslaved at some point. Two of my great grandparents were child laborers in a factory in Rhode Island. They were still alive when I was born- that's not that long ago, but people decended from slaves of over two hundred years ago are still whining.

  • Teshub

Depends what this Hispanic person came from, but from

    http://www.mexconnect.com/articles/666-slavery-in-mexico

"Over 75 percent of modern Mexico's population, have at least one Indian or Mulatto ancestor. The vast majority of them were slaves. "

  • tgg001

    Yep.

  • Teshub

He probably did it as revenge for slavery.

  • just saying

Sorry to ruin your fantasy, but the suspect was described as a heavy-set hispanic male.

Looks like you're gonna have to make up another story. Good luck.

  • sounds like it was staged for support of the anti-nonwhitechristian laws in AZ

  • Teshub

Hispanic is an ethnicity, not a race. And its Arizona to boot. I guess the people themselves are a propaganda for illegal immigration control.

  • just saying

Yes, your concern about propaganda and the possible illegality of immigration control is understandable.

  • Teshub

The point is we harbor people who are empowered to commit crime due to perceived slights or injustices. However, they seem to be targeting those least likely to defend themselves not TPTB.

  • just saying

I was being sarcastic, but you're so full of double talk yourself that you don't realize when someone is throwing the same crap back at you.

  • Teshub

Just make sure to be coherent next time.

  • just saying

As if you'd know the difference.

Do you actually think the following comment you made is even remotely coherent: "...we harbor people who are empowered to commit crime due to perceived slights or injustices."

  • tgg001

Yeah, if he was a slave and she a slave owner. Which is doubtful.

When was the last time a black woman got her purse snatched? As long as the face isn't dark they will pull even if they only find rolled toiled paper inside.

  • suga7

Your racism, ignorance and hatred is revolting. When was the last time a black woman got her purse snatched? My mom got her pursed snatched and she was dragged into a car and kidnapped. Thank God, they didn't kill her. Do yourself a favor, pick up a Tim Wise book or one from Michael Eric Dyson and educate yourself.
