Dennis Hopper Dead at 74

052910hopper.jpg Actor, director and counterculture icon Dennis Hopper, known for roles in such films as Easy Rider (which he co-wrote and directed), Cool Hand Luke, Blue Velvet, True Romance and Speed died today in his home in Venice, California from complications of prostate cancer. He made one of his last public appearances in March, when he was awarded a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. He was extremely frail at the time, but told the crowd, "I just want to thank you, and that's all I can do." Producer Mark Canton once called Hopper "the coolest guy on the planet."

Screw you, Dennis Hopper, for stealing Gary Coleman's celebrity-death thunder! *And* for those assy bank ads a few years back!

What a coincidence. I was just planning to watch My Science Project sometime this coming week. Not a big role for Hopper, but a fun, trippy one.

on the contrary, the one bad movie with a big role for hopper, but not a fun or trippy one is 'super mario bros'; he is 'king koopa'.

wow. this is really shocking. i'll always remember him as "billy" in 'easy rider' -- it is one of my all-time favorite movies.

    rest in peace.
