Video: Blue Jay Tortures Cat On 5th Street

His baby birds may have hatched, but a daddy blue jay is busy obsessing over a cat who lives in a window overlooking his family's 5th Street nest, according to Animal Tourism. Until the cat learns to open that window, it looks like the Blue Jay wins—and it does make for a pretty entertaining video:

jackass.. you need to close your window before your cat plummets to its death or kills the birds

  • Neverhaditsogood

Heck with the cat...or the bird. Think about the poor dumb schmucks who are dropping their drawers in this blog for the whole world to see. The cat and the bird are doing what comes natural. The bloggers?...yikes.

  • banksy should spray paint the bird

That blue jay is not harassing the cat. He's warning the cat away from the nest. It's like the shore birds do at the beach if you get close to their nests. They dive-bomb you. Duh!

  • handsomedevil

they dive bomb you because you are in there habitat where you don't belong

took me a few days to realize what you're doing, but it's amazing how many people are taking you this seriously.

    wow.

  • manytimes

what you don't get is that it's also the cat's habitat. this is just a natural interaction between two animals. in the suburbs growing up my cat's tail would actually get hit by the birds when she walked past their nests. She would just whip her tail and move a little faster. This cat isn't really even taking any hits, it finds the blue jay interesting. The screen is preventing either one from incurring any serious harm. Even without it, like my cat growing up, it's just the natural interaction of animals that share this planet.

This is Cat TV. This cat is loving it. My cat would be on that windowsill each day when he needed a dose of entertainment. The bird isn't havin' such a good time. Bummer for the Blue Jay, though this is one of his purposes in life.

  • John_Matrix

the blue jay is just defending the nest from the cat. neither of them knows that the screen makes it futile.

  • handsomedevil

oh right his purpose in life is to have his natural habitat destroyed so he has to nest on a fire escape right next to a cat who is a prisoner of selfish humans who cant be bothered to pay attention to what is going on. that is not natural and not the circle of life shame on people.

  • RevWaldo

Cat should be thankful the screen is there.

Your average cat's thinking "Oh, birdie! Want!"

However your average blue jay is thinking "YOU WANNA F*** WITH ME? YOU F***ING WITH THE BEST! YOU WANNA PLAY GAMES? OKAY, I PLAY WITH YOU! COME ON!! YOU WANNA PLAY ROUGH? HOKAY! SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIENDS!!" (extends claws)

I wondered if Ms. Blue Jay know what he is doing when he is away and she is caring for the younglings.

  • FelixtheCat & Christine Quinn'

Blue Jay likes to take risks but seriously why not have a screen window for the cat, he/she can fall. seriously, that isn't right.

  • Jen S

Pretty sure there's a screen - see how his arms stay up longer than it takes to swipe? It's probably his claws caught in the wires.

  • FelixtheCat & Christine Quinn'

    yep, you're right. Awesome video.

  • handsomedevil

shame on the owner for letting the cat get its paws stuck in the screen they should be keeping the window closed and providing the kitty with something else to do

  • Jen S

I see what you're doing here.

  • handsomedevil

and the person who made the video is an asshole he or she should be busy informing the owners of what is going on and stopping the conflict

  • FelixtheCat & Christine Quinn'

    PatheticDevil is a TROLL

  • handsomedevil

no I am not I just care about animals unlike all you pathetic losers who will watch them fight for entertainment
