Three People Stabbed In East Harlem

2010_05_eastharl.jpg Earlier this morning, just after 5 a.m., three people were stabbed in East Harlem in seemingly random attacks. Two of the victims were stabbed at E. 125th Street and Lexington Avenue and another person was stabbed on 119th Street near 5th Avenue. One of the victims at E. 125th Street fled into the 4/5/6 subway station "was found bleeding on the platform."

According to MyFoxNY, "Witnesses say two of the victims were Good Samaritans who tried to intervene in a mugging. The suspect apparently stabbed them before running away and stabbing another person." All victims are at Harlem Hospital, and one is seriously injured (the man stabbed at E. 119th was stabbed in the back and slashed on the head).

It's believed the suspect, who was wearing a black polo shirt and blue jeans, ran into Marcus Garvey Park.

No its fine if you want to walk through a safe neighborhood ferbs but the negative conatations you added to your comments are offensive. And the worst part is people like you say comments like that all the time and dont even realize when their being racist. So maybe if you werent so ignorant you would know that what you said is offensive, idiotic and wrong.

My company moved me from Midtown to Stamford. The closest MetroNorth stop is Harlem. The walk from 125th Street to Metronorth is disgusting. It has nothing to do with race. Sidewalks are always full of garbage. Most people that walk around there have not utilized soap for weeks. Once a woman urinated in the middle of the sidwalk. During rush hour. Crackheads are everywhere. That area is just vile.

So I guess wanting to walk through a decent neighborhood makes me racist.

People get stabby when the temperature goes up. Hold fast nancies, summer is just getting started.

  • MsMarvel

In case no one noticed, unlike in Queens, this looks like some folks STOPPED TO HELP, and then got stabbed.

Fortunately, everyone's going to survive, and say what you will, but it seems to be the "poor" and the homeless (like that poor man who died last month) that are more likely to stick their nose in and help someone than the "gentrified" who will be afraid to get involved.

  • DEE

I totally agree with you.. It would take an ignorant person like alleycat or ellecat whatever the name is to bad mouth someone.. when probably their shit isnt together

  • 5borough

We need stronger knife control laws,

  • Fergs34

Walked through that crime scene this morning. They should just knock down all the buildings in that area and gentrify. It's a disgusting area but still "Manhattan."

  • ddoc727

Fergs, I doubt you walked through that crime scene this morning, yet are stupid enough to feel that all of 125th Street should be "knocked down." There are far "worse" neighborhoods all over this city. And if you did walk through, do us a favor and stay out of our neighborhood in the future. You'd be happier in the less disgusting parts of Manhattan, I'm sure.

  • DEE

Thats right tell them.... i feel safer in my area then in theirs.. honestly...

  • ElleCat

Absolutely! I mean, how dare poor people think they have the right to live in Manhattan! And what's worse, did you know that most of them are black or brown?! I'd say we should just move all of them to the Bronx, but as we gentrify more and more uptown, I wonder if the Bronx is far enough?

Or maybe you should just move, Fergs? There are many fewer assaults like this in Dayton, Ohio, and the whole state is a lot less brown, if you get what I'm saying. Maybe you would prefer it there?

  • Feminismrockz

Wow it obviously takes someone as ignorant as you to say somehing like you and you can pretend like you were maybe joking but things like these are not laughing matters

  • DEE

I want to first start off by sayin ur very ignorant.. how dare poor people think they have the right to live in Manhattan! And what's worse, did you know that most of them are black or brown? thats very white of you to say that or should i say PINK. it doesnt matter what color the person is they can live anywhere poor or rich for one. Nobody talks about railer trash people how they should live anywhere or park their trailers anywhere. There are more WHITE crazy people killing then african americans but the media put out what they want to make US because i am BLACk look bad. so maybe you should think before you say something because you sound very STUPID..

  • collegegirl

I would definitely have to agree with DEE "ellecat" you are very ignorant to have said such a racist comment about "black or brown" people I happen to be bi-racial and I have never been so disgusted before. It is a shame that you are so narrow minded and personally I feel bad for you. I live in Harlem and I absoloutely love it and there is nothing I fear not even racist people like you. It is 2010 and us Black and Brown people have made tremendous changes in the world and people like you will never be happy because you want to be like us BLACK KINGS AND QUEENS!

I thought that ending the comment with the suggestion that Fergs might prefer Ohio was making it a little too obvious that I was being sarcastic, but apparently I need to dumb it down a little bit more if I'm going to be posting on Gothamist.

I walked by the police precinct on Astoria Blvd last night around midnight and there were two pools of blood spaced apart by many drips leading from the corner to the front door. It was pretty gruesome looking. Tell me what happened there, Gothamist.
