Get Inked As Brooklyn Bridge Turns 127

bkbridgetattoo.jpg

Tattoo artist Adam Suerte, who brought you the Red Hook Sugar Refinery tattoo of aught-nine, is back with a Brooklyn Bridge tattoo in honor of the landmark's 127th anniversary. If you're willing to get the design inked onto your body for eternity, it will only cost you $27 (though you can still get an original manhole tattoo for free). His Brooklyn Tattoo shop will be offering this deal on Sunday May 23rd, the day before the Bridge’s 127th anniversary.

Suerte tells us, “I grew up in the shadow of the bridge… As a kid we would ride our bikes over it, I hung out on it and wrote on it when I was a teen and now it shows up in many of my paintings, graphics and illustrations, its even in the logo for our shop. Tourists seeing it for the first time and lifers like me know that the Brooklyn Bridge holds special meaning.” Alright, so what part of NYC would you be willing to carry around on your body forever?

Man, has it been 27 years since the 100th anniversary party for the BB? That was like the best day EVER in NYC. Parades, fireworks right off the bridge, and a real NYC Mayor (Ed Koch) leading the way. I miss those days when NYC used to be fun.

Ferryboi: Maybe it's you that used to be fun and isn't anymore. New York City seems to be doing just fine.

I would do this, but between my Space Needle, St. Louis Arch, Golden Gate, Graceland, and old Faithful, my back is taken up I'm afraid.

any special events happening at the bridge on Sunday?

Yeah, nobody's going to regret getting that permanently etched on their body in 5 or 10 years.

When I saw the thumbnail picture, I thought this was a photo from a burn victim's lawsuit.

Personally I was just planning to decoratively pierce my scrotum 127 times to commemorate the anniversary.

How much do tattoos generally cost? That's pretty cheap for something so permanent.

ooh yes, a tattoo, so i can be unique just like everyone else.

I've been wanting to get some ink from him for years now... This is a killer deal, however wasn't exactly what I would have wanted.
