Facebook Has Blood On Its Interface

faceblood05.jpg Apparently the French are really into giant outdoor cocktail parties right now—but when is anyone anywhere not into that? Anyway, a 10,000 person outdoor bash was organized through Facebook in Nantes Thursday, and now the social networking site has a body count. According to the Daily News, one 21-year-old man died, 57 were hospitalized for drinking too much, and 41 were jailed. There's allegedly another one planned for May 23rd, but Paris police have posted a Facebook warning that it's illegal. So why are we talking about this all the way over here? Well, it's only a matter of time before they come for us. Quit now while you're still safe! Also, we hear there's a profile spy now: discuss.

  • i'm confused about how this really has to do with facebook. is the idea that you couldn't organize such a thing without it? because that seems unlikely. and 10,000 drunk people is a lot. i wonder, out of every 10,000 drunk people each night, what the death rate is.

Facebook can go fuck itself. I just basically deleted my whole profile when they tried to force me to link my profile to all their little ads. It was nice while it was a way for my college friends to contact me, but I have no desire to provide myself as a free source of cash for a service I don't actually need.

The number of people killed by Facebook stalkers is probably pretty substantial in its own right, but probably not as high as the body count on Craigslist.

It's only a matter of time before facebook turns into myspace.

Google is doing a similar thing with youtube with changing layouts and bugs throughout the site.

Never had Facebook. I figured I'd just wait for the next thing to come along. This and Power for Living is likely the only reason I am alive today.

Facebook doesn't kill people, people on Facebook kill people.
