UPDATE: NJ Cops Look For Find 200-250 Pound Bear Cub

Just miles from the George Washington Bridge, a black bear cub has been spotted in Englewood, NJ, prompting concerns from the authorities and residents. WPIX reports that the police have seen the bear, which is about 200-250 pounds, a few times, once in the company of other bears. The Englewood police don't think the bear (or bears) is aggressive, but one resident said, "I'm not going outside. I don't care if the bear is black, yellow or green, it's a bear, and I'm scared."
UPDATE: The cub had been captured by the police and NJ state wildlife officials. Check out this video—an official says that the bear looks to be about two years old (they'll take out a toot—ow—to confirm) and he traveled from northwestern NJ by the waterways (the stream corridors). The official was sort of comforting when asked if people should be concerned, saying that they should just be aware, "We're not dealing with an animal that's going after people or gonna eat people. If that were the case, people in NJ would die every day."

I came across 4 black bears last year in Morristown, NJ, told a cop and he didn't even seem too fazed...apparently it happens out there quite a bit.
Dead Himmler
I think that most people agree that it would be intoxicating to actually kill a bear. Killing something that large and dangerous has a certain power quality to it that cannot be matched. Except maybe killing a whale.

You only have to travel about 25-30 minutes further west into Morris and Passaic county, places like Jefferson or Sparta, where people see black bears all the time and realize this is neither very exciting news nor an immediate threat to anyone's safety. These poor dudes are just looking for somewhere to live away from people!

that's nothing new. I grew up there and seen wild turkeys, deer, raccoons, skunks, snakes, and possums. Actually, it's Englewood Cliffs and not Englewood which is the downtown area.
grandzu
It Englewood. West Forest Ave and Lafayette.
The Cliffs don't start until up the hill after Dwight Englewood.
