Fourth Grade Model Cuter, Richer Than You'll Ever Be

A Queens nine-year-old supermodel is one of the highest paid models in the world, earning nearly $250,000 a year. Fatima Ptacek has been modeling since she was five, appeared on SNL and has been in commercials for McDonald's, Bisquick and Pillsbury Toaster Streudel. As if that wasn't enough of a shot to your ego, she is a nationally ranked gymnast, reads at the 10th-grade level, is fluent in Spanish, studies Mandarin and would give up modeling if she could go to an Ivy League college and be a lawyer. Well, at least you don't have to ask permission when you want another juice box, right?

I've worked with Fatima a couple times, and, while she is very well spoken for a girl her age, one can't help but wonder if she will peak early and follow the course of so many other young stars.

I'm not a child psychologist, nor do I have any child psychological facts at hand, but I'm gonna guess that putting a child in this context (lucrative competitions based on body image) on a regular basis has to have some detrimental long term psychological effects. And I want to say detrimental to the point of justifying legislation. Any child psychologists out there with thoughts on this? Fatima seems to be well adjusted, but then again she has been groomed to speak to the media.
