Yesterday we got a glimpse of Lady Gaga's museum attire (an understated outfit aside from the gold-spiked mask-glasses). But what shoes does Lil Miss Poker Face wear when she's traipsing around MoMA contemplating Marina Abramović? Seriously, we're asking: WTF are those things? Well, whatever they are, they certainly look perfectly comfortable to navigate the city streets in.

She's more into creating (and wearing) art than any of the lame-assed people who are always criticizing her... and she gives props to people like Leigh Bowery who influenced her. Brava, Gaga! You're amazing!

I know a lot about Lady Gaga and her attire and her videos and her background... but I wouldn't know one of her songs if it kicked me in the shins.

Seriously, I know this: They are called chopines, and they first became popular during the late middle ages. The purpose was to keep the bottom of women's dresses out of the mud and garbage that covered the streets at the time.

Mud and garbage in the streets, just like NY! I don't see how to walk in them, though.

  • You sound like you would like "Extreme Beauty: The Body Transformed" by Harold Koda. My in-laws got it for me for X-mas & it kind of rules.

  • Go!

Demonstrates much more stamina than what Marina's doing on the second floor.

  • Forget the shoes, that mask is AMAZING.

    "WTF are those things?"

They are just another example of the kind of attire that normal people wouldn't wear, but that celebrities will because it gets them attention from the gossip-press catering to people who want to know what celebrities wear. And they did the job!

    Um... ok
