"S.O.B." Lawyer Sentenced For Stealing From Clients

5510lawyer.jpg The crooked Brooklyn lawyer who stole $4 million from his handicapped clients was sentenced yesterday to up to 15 years in prison. Steven Rondos, 45, previously pleaded guilty to grand larceny and money laundering for stealing settlement claims and other money from 23 victims beginning in 2001.

Rondos, a guardianship lawyer, spent the money, which was supposed to pay for his clients' health care for life, on renovating his Ridgewood, NJ home, which included $31,000 for a plasma TV and $10,000 for kitchen curtains, according to court documents. Rondos was ordered by the court to repay only $2.6 million of the money he stole. During a press conference last year, former Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau became particularly heated at the allegations, saying "the son of a bitch was a pretty vicious guy, preying on incapacitated people."
