Video: Mahmoud Claims Osama Bin Laden Is In D.C.

2010_05_mahmoudgeo.jpg Iranian leader President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad deflected questions and generally acted like a pain during an interview with George Stephanopoulos on "Good Morning, America" today. When asked as to whether rumors that Osama bin Laden is living in Tehran are true, he responded, "Your question is laughable," and ranted about the United States' invasion of Afghanistan. Stephanopolous pressed Ahmadinejad about his indirect answer, to which he responded, "These words don't have legal value. Our position towards Afghanistan and against terrorism is quite clear...You are giving news which is very strange. I heard that Osama Bin Laden is in Washington, D.C."

Ahmadinejad claims that since Bin Laden and former president George W. Bush were "colleagues," there is a higher chance of him being in D.C. than there is of him being in Tehran. Though Stephanopolous said he didn't agree, he never walked out of the interview, but merely thanked the leader for his time. Yesterday Ahmadinejad addressed the UN with a 35-minute speech accusing the U.S. of supporting major terrorist networks. The speech prompted walk outs from the U.S., British and French delegates.

so on the one front we have the politicians and msm saying matter of factly that 'iran is evil'

    even bloggers like Jaya Saxena

lead into the story with he 'acted like a pain' 'he ranted' ...

and you have people generally accepting it as truth, but if you dig deeper and read the sources, its a different picture altogether.

if you look at histroric fact and consider that Iran has never attacked its neighbors, the premise that they are a threat to the world as our leaders say they are, in my mind, is absurd.

I dont understand it. I would love for someone to show me sources that can explain it to me. My mind is open.

They may have a religion I have no interest in, they may have a laws I disagree with, a culture I dont want to be a part of, but thats altogther different than feeling with have a right to threaten them, to go to war with them.

    C'est la vie

yeah, this guy is a real gem of a human, i can't believe people are so dissmisive and media washed and incredulous and and ...

    'fuckouttahere

  • BDS=(Boycott.Divest.Sanction)

show me sources that can explain it to me.

stupidity is closing your mind to ideas. its dogma. its having an opinion and ignoring facts that disagree with it.

My mind is open. What do you have?

You would think that this country has awoken from its deep sleep after the 9/11 attacks, but it seems like we're still sleep walking harder than ever. We're now even getting cocky about the fact that the bomb in times square never exploded, when we should be looking at the fact that we are still a target, and this was a close call. Why can't we just call ourselves lucky and move on?

  • horseplay

How dare you guys give acknowledgment to the fact that our government is the great big snake! So what we worked side by side with Bin Laden? And supplied Sadam Hussein with weaponry to knock off the Kurds ect ect? So what our government lies? So what our government embraces war and poverty? Our jobs as Americans is to pretend we don't know, and most importantly, support and believe anything our government wants us to. I AM AN AMERICAN, I WILL REMAIN PATRIOTIC AND ROBOTIC, AND THE MEDIA SHALL GUIDE US THROUGH LIFE. I AM AN AMERICAN! USA! USA! USA!

  • inoyourider

    Who gives a fuck?

This guy is a nut and barely has control of his country.

Sooner or later he will be gone.

Steph should have asked him about his Jewish parents, he would have turned purple & end his political career!

  • NannyState

Yeah, as if Georgie would ever ask anyone a hardball question.

  • Darrell

What kind of bullshit question is that anyway? No intelligent person will tell you that Osama Bin Ladin is living in Tehran. Who the hell would call this a legitimate claim? The tea partiers? Certainly no credible intelligence analysis.

Clearly the reporter was trying to bait Ahmadinejad into giving a sensational response, and Ahmadinejad was dumb enough to fall for it. All I know is that big media will twine this out and splatter it on the front page tomorrow saying that Ahmadinejad hates america, and we'll get a wave oc commentaries on the internet talking about how we should nuke Iran. All very annoying since the real issues and analysis always get overlooked in favor of emotion provoking nonsense and sensationalistic dribble.

  • PKinNYC

Did ya miss the part about Bin Laden and Bush being colleagues?

  • Darrell

So? What the hell do I care? End of the day Iran is going to get their nuclear power plant because America doesn't have the votes on the security council to place sanctions on Iran. That's what's really important, not some nonsense rambling. Its not like Ahmadinejad has a great deal of power in his own country anyway. The way Iran's government is set up, their president has less power than ours.

  • PKinNYC

The guy brings up A LOT of valid points...I love the one about Bin Laden and Bush being "colleagues" BECAUSE it's TRUE. It's just the sheeple of the United States are so filled with BS from our mainstream media that they know less about WORLD AFFAIRS than they do about who's in the top 3 on American Idol or what's gonna happen on LOST. Blame it on the dumbing down of America that starts at home and continues in our schools and then on our tv's in our papers and everywhere else. Yeah Assholerimjob is a dangerous person in certain contexts...but we should worry about the bang up job the Bush's et al have done to further ingnite anti-Americanism. They keep saying we are safe here at home and play "security theatre" here and abroad...but the truth is there are loads of people/groups that want to do us harm...the guy brings up A LOT of valid points. We are directly responsible for the mess in the Middle East- Iraq, Iran, Afganistan due to American policies of the past 50+ years...Do I agree with wiping Israel off the face of the earth? NO. Do I think he rigged the last election in Iran? Yes. Is he enriching uranium for a WMD? possibly. man...12/21/12 can't come quick enough.

  • The Hanger-On

    Where Obama at?

  • BDS=(Boycott.Divest.Sanction)

Before we start, can we all agree that the rumor that 'Osama has turned up in Iran' as first reported on Fox news yesterday, is not factual, not news, and either a journalists joke or outright propaganda?

Consider, why went to war with Ahghanstan? to get Osama.

When we bombed Pakistan it was to get Osama.

Remember before the war in Iraq Cheny said AlQueda and Osama were hiding in Iraq?

Now as forces are pushing us to war with Iran, guess what? Now we get reports that thats where Osama is hiding!

I mean for reals? come on? Are you people buying this?

Look at this 'wishy washy' statement AHMADINEJAD makes about terrorism

AHMADINEJAD: We oppose terrorism. We strongly oppose. 16,000 Iranian people have been killed by terrorists. We have given the largest number of victims to acts of terrorism......anybody who threatens anybody anywhere in the world, threatens the lives of the people, we oppose him.

but then George still goes on to ask

STEPHANOPOULOS: One final question. There's a new documentary out that says that Osama Bin Laden is living in Tehran. And the subject of the documentary, a man named Alan Parrot, one of the world's foremost falconers living in Iran, says he's spoken to Osama bin Laden several times since 2003. Is Osama bin Laden in Tehran?

( I love that the source is 'one of the world's foremost falconers' wtf?)

    AHMADINEJAD: Your question is laughable.

which it is. Consider the timing of this revelation. such bs. and so it deterioates from there. as it should.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Is it true or not?

AHMADINEJAD: Maybe you know, but I don't know.

STEPHANOPOULOS: I'm asking you. You're the President of Iran.

AHMADINEJAD: I don't know such a thing, you are giving news which is very strange.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So, let me ask it a different way. If you did know that Osama bin Laden was in Tehran, would you show him hospitality? Would you expel him? Would you arrest him?

AHMADINEJAD: I heard that Osama bin Laden is in the Washington, D.C.

    STEPHANOPOULOS: No, you didn't.

AHMADINEJAD: Yes, I did. He's there. Because he was a previous partner of Mr. Bush. They were colleagues in fact in the old days. You know that. They were in the oil business together. They worked together. Mr. Bin Laden never cooperated with Iran but he cooperated with Mr. Bush--

    hahaha.

  • PKinNYC

votes...like we needs votes. We will bomb the crap out of their facilities...Israel and USA.

  • PKinNYC

Next thing you know Bin Laden is in North Korea...oh we better invaade. Wait no he's in Syria. better invade. Nope, it's Pakistan. better invade. SHEEPLE...come on...Bin Laden is the boogie man...he's grainy footage in a cave or a garbled audio tape. WE made Bin Laden. WE protected Bin Laden and his family after 9/11...do some research...foremost falconers...gimmee a fucking break...oh it's so frustrating that people just blindly accept the BS that the Gov't & media spoon feeds us as truth that we blindly accept.

  • dracula mountain

    May is clearly a terrorist

  • jaycjay

His point is actually valid. No one knows that Bin Laden in Iraq; it's as stated above, a rumor. No one has any idea where he is; it's almost as valid to say that he could in the US and it is to say that he could be Iraq.

He clearly often attempts to use humor in addressing the media. He's just generally not very good at it. In this case, he did it pretty well but still no one got the joke.

  • jaycjay

I meant, of course, to type "Iran" both times I used "Iraq" up there. Or at least the first time; "Iraq" works just as well in the second instance.
