Michael Douglas Says Son Didn't Get Celeb Treatment

php8MpbCtPM.jpg Michael Douglas is speaking out about his 31-year-old son Cameron's recent 5 year jail sentence, which he received after dealing methamphetamine, conspiring to sell crystal meth and for heroin possession. With some saying his son should have received a 10-year sentence, the actor insinuated on the Today Show that he didn't receive any special treatment, saying, “I don’t think a lot of people said [that Cameron received a celebrity sentence]. One particular newspaper here in New York was pretty mean-spirited and vindictive about the whole process.” Guess we know which newspaper he's talking about!

Before the sentencing, the judge was flooded with letters from family and friends (that were allegedly not supposed to see the light of day outside of the courtroom), mostly discussing Cameron's upbringing. Douglas partially laid the blame on himself this morning, telling Matt Lauer, "I've taken blame about being a bad father—if being a bad father is working your butt off trying to create a career at one time. When I had Cameron I was early in my career and as opposed to most jobs, making movies takes you all around the world, so you were absentee in that sense." His mother has been criticized for not being around, as well.

In the end, Douglas thinks his son will learn from this experience and "will be able to start his life afresh." Stay tuned!

maybe if he'd stop making crappy tough guy movies because he's not a tough guy anymore.

Maybe he didn't get the "star treatment" because he's not a star.

If he was a minority 10 years no doubt. If he had a public defender 10 years no doubt. No special treatment. Full of it is what that is.
