Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Arrives In NYC Today

2010_05_mahmoud.jpg Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be in town to address the United Nations' Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference tomorrow. Ahmadinejad said before departing Iran that the NPD had failed, "The biggest threat to the world today is the production and stockpiling of nuclear weapons... Unfortunately the [International Atomic Energy Agency] in the past 40 years has not been successful in its mission. We have no disarmament or nonproliferation and some countries have even procured the nuclear bomb during this period."

The U.S. wants more sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program. Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY), Chairwoman of the Appropriations State and Foreign Operations Subcommittee, said:

"New Yorkers are proud to be home to the United Nations, which entails the unpleasant task of hosting some of the world’s most loathsome dictators. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s denial of the Holocaust, commitment to the destruction of Israel, and reckless pursuit of nuclear weapons make him unwanted and unwelcome in New York, but we will live up to our responsibilities as UN host.

"In 2007, President Ahmadinejad used his visit to pull offensive PR stunts like attempting to visit the World Trade Center and spouting off inflammatory remarks and conspiracy theories at Columbia University. He should use this trip to join the community of nations by answering long-overdue questions about Iran’s nuclear program, coming into compliance with the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT), and ceasing his pursuit of nuclear weapons."

Ahmadinejad was here last fall for the UN General Assembly; the U.S., Canada, French, British and other delegations walked out during his speech and there were protests outside. But there is one group who is excited about Mahmoud: Comedians! One told the Daily News, "Ahmadinejad is like the George Bush of Iran. It was good for the world when he left, but bad for comedy. Ahmadinejad isn't good for the world right now, but he's great for comedy."

Nita Lowey, a staunch zionist, should not be able to comment on this. Nor should Schumer.

Sounds like horseplay is licking the thermite paint, like Jesse Ventura.

Sounds like you're still 9/11 drunk. Also sounds like you're badly mediawashed. Poor thing, its OK though, you're in the right place because there are a lot like you here on gothamist. Its just sad that there isn't a cure for the blind yet, or a rehabilitation center for media drunks

I'll admit slavery was a worse thing than the holocaust because due to the importation of all those Africans, America now has to suffer supporting millions of lazy Afro Americans with affirmative action, welfare, health and criminal "rehabilitation" resources stretched to the limits.

    SHIP THEM BACK!

  • nycgurl

    You pinhead.

Yea I know name calling isn't right, but I'll make an exception when you play the game of whose human tragedy is worse. They are all stains on humankind. Its all about greed, money and power- those with it manipulate the small minded to fight about nonsense.

What a race to the bottom.

We should have picked our own cotton.

  • horseplay

We should have, but we shouldn't have terrorized our own country (9/11)

  • HymietownHero

Don't pay attention to horseplay, he's just doing it for the lulz (parentheses!)

  • inoyourider

    Oh, the ultimate troll dagger!

You'll do just about anything for a little attention won't you?

  • horseplay

That's like telling a white person to go back to the caucus mountains, you know, where we came from. Also is the place where we picked up our dog habits (had orgies with dogs) and hid from the sun in fear of what we fear today, melanoma. Your point is?

Mahmoud is a moron. He claimed that Iran doesn't have homosexuals when he spoke at Columbia U. He also claims that Palestinians where not involved in the Holocaust, despite the actions of Haj-amin al-Husseini, the 1st Palestinian leader and a Nazi war criminal. Husseini's training of Bosnian Muslim SS troops is proof of the involvement. Mahmoud also ironically denies that the Holocaust took place.

husseini implicates all palestinians as complicit in the holocaust about as much as Ford implicates all Americans

Ford and Adolf Hitler admired each other's achievements.[33] Adolf Hitler kept a life-size portrait of Ford next to his desk.[33] "I regard Henry Ford as my inspiration," Hitler told a Detroit News reporter two years before becoming the Chancellor of Germany in 1933.[33] In July 1938, four months after the German annexation of Austria, Ford was awarded the Grand Cross of the German Eagle, the highest medal awarded by Nazi Germany to foreigners.[33]

the linking of the Palestinians with the Holocaust is the obscene PROPAGANDA, to make people forget who the victims are...ridiculous. The Palestinians were responsible for the holocaust cause they didnt want their country over run by a people who winded up taking over 55% in 1948 and the other 45% over the next 60 years!?

In light of how the US LIED about Iraq and Saddam, I believe 0% of what they say about Iran. based on historical FACT, in modern history, Iran has never invaded or attacked another country. How can they be the enemy?

its all PROPAGANDA. wake up people. THINK. FOR. YOURSELVES.

  • inoyourider

Iran and its people may not be the enemy, but Ahmadinejad definitely is.

  • horseplay

Why in America, is the Holocaust the most tragic event in history, and to the rest of the world, the enslavement of blacks by whites in America is the most tragic event in history? 400 years vs 4 years. I don't know, what do you think?

  • bigmikebrooklyn

the wholesale and unrepentant genocide of the Cherokee, Mohawks, Iroquois, et al ranks up there in my book. Beats the hell out of 400 years of slavery on the 12 point sliding atrocity scale (like the richter sccale, but more sufferingy).

  • inoyourider

Slavery is a walk in the park compared to the Holocaust.
