  • Mets 9 Philadelphia 1: Are they for real? It’s a little too early to tell, but this was a fantastic start to the series. Jon Niese was dominant striking out seven while allowing only four hits and the offense backed him up. David Wright and Jeff Francoeur homered while Rod Barajas hit two of them to propel the Mets to a big win.
  • Yankees 6 Chicago 4: Andy Pettitte struggled early, but he kept the game within reach and the Yankees’ offense delivered. Derek Jeter hit a two-run double to get the Yankees the lead and the combination of Marte, Joba and Rivera made it stand up.

I am guardedly optimistic that the Mets, at least at this point in the season, are finally clicking as a team. The pitching from Santana, Pelf and Niese is magnificent as is the bullpen. All they needed was for the bats to wake up. I find it "amazin'" that this turnaround has happened in two weeks. Ya gotta believe.

it was a DJ triple... not a double. he was only missing the double for the cycle.
