Brooklyn Mom Claims Mistaken Identity In Assault Case

042910imoscar.jpg A Brooklyn woman facing assault charges says they got the wrong woman. Chila Lati allegedly ran over a traffic agent's foot on Avenue U on January 8th, but Lati says the real culprit is a different Chila Lati who, unsurprisingly, doesn't want to come forward. She told the Daily News, "This is a case of mistaken identity. I know I didn't do anything wrong."

According to authorities, Lati allegedly confronted a traffic agent issuing her a ticket on January 8th, and, after arguing with her, drove off —and over the agent's foot in the process. But Lati says she knows at least five other Chila Lati's in the area, and which one of them really did it. She also allegedly has a time-dated photo that proves she was not in the area at the time, and drives a different car than was reported in both the criminal complaint and the police report. However, the DA's office isn't buying her story yet. One spokesman said, "If we listened to every defense attorney who said we had the wrong person we would have no trials."

It wasn't me it was the one armed man!

How hard would it be to verify the car that ran over the agent's foot and the car she or her family owns? And yet, how convenient is it that she has a time stamped photograph of herself elsewhere exactly at the same time the crime happened?

You would also think that the pharmacy would have a video of her that day in the store too.
