Strip Club Evicted, Racy Billboard Still Up In Queens

phpZSJyw0PM.jpg Last year a Queens community was protesting a strip club whose risqué billboard loomed over their neighborhood. While locals didn't seem to mind the Platinum Club being there (hey, everyone needs to blow off some steam at the end of a long day!), they did mind the x-rated eyesore. Now the club may vanish all together—the Daily News reports that the establishment owes more than $150K in rent and recently closed its doors after getting an eviction notice and not getting their liquor license renewed.

Since the club turned a deaf ear to the community's request, locals got Community Board 13 to delay their liquor license renewal. During this delay board members compiled complaints against the club, and now the owner seems to be calling it quits, saying once his eviction is finalized in court he'll remove the offensive sign.

Currently they have 60 days to respond to the eviction notice that was served this month, but City councilman James Sanders is confident, saying: "We got them good on this one." And as of now, the billboard remains in place, with the owner in negotiations with another strip club entrepreneur to take over his lease. Sanders warns if the new owners don't take the billboard down, "we'll shut them down, too."
