This morning at 8 a.m., Yale University doctor Vajinder Pal Toor was fatally shot outside his home in Branford, Connecticut. According to the Courant, Lishan Wang, who police say is a Chinese national from Beijing whose last known address is in Marietta, Georgia, was arrested. The police chief said, "Our agency is looking at a number of motives for this homicide. One is the possibility that Dr. Toor and Lishan Wang had a previous working relationship at a hospital in New York. We are unsure of the extent of their interactions at this time."
Toor, 34, a first year fellow at Yale's medical school, and Wang, 44, apparently worked together at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn. A neighbor said that Toor's wife, who is five months pregnant, had just said good-bye to her husband and came out of their condominium when she heard the gunfire. The gunman fired at her as well, but she hid behind a car.
Wang was pulled over by police about a mile from Toor's home; cops found handguns in his car. The Courant says he was "charged with murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, weapons in a motor vehicle, carrying a handgun without a permit, unlawful discharge of a firearm. Wang is being held on a $2,000,000.00 bond."
