Investigators have released this photo of a man suspected of opening fire on a Bed-Stuy street on Sunday afternoon, wounding three people, including a 5-year-old girl. Adam Bilal, 24, is suspected of shooting Syniah Herndon in the leg, and shooting Jamel Franklin, 20, and Darnell Billinghurst, 23, in their arms. Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening. Cops say Syniah was caught in the crossfire while playing outside her home on Halsey Street; she later told her mom, "I shouldn't have gone outside today."
Witnesses identified Bilal as the shooter who stepped out of a silver Nissan and opened fire with a .45 caliber handgun. Initial reports said that there were two shooters, but it's unclear if investigators are still pursuing a second suspect. The motive is also unclear, and Bilal is still at large. Anyone with information about the case is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS, by texting TIP577 to CRIMES, or by going to NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.
