Le Parker Meridien Suicide Details Emerge

lmp0410s.jpg The man who jumped to his death yesterday morning off Le Parker Meridien on West 56th Street was Brian Fiore. The 39-year-old was a former employee of Salomon Brothers, and used to be a member at the hotel's Gravity Fitness Center.

A neighbor of Fiore's (at a West 69th Street apartment building) told the Post that he lost his job several years ago and had been working in temporary positions since then. She said, "He didn't have money or food, so we'd give him what we could. It seemed he was spiraling down."

Fiore purchased a day pass to the fitness center yesterday, and when staff spotted him circling the outdoor pool on the 42nd floor, they told him to stay away from the edge... but he eventually jumped the railing and leaped to his death.

The hotel hasn't commented on the death, but players for the LA Angels have (the team has been staying at the hotel). Pitchers Jered Weaver and Matt Palmer witnessed the suicide, and Palmer said, "Weaver actually saw him splat. I felt kind of sick to my stomach... It's hard to see something like that and hard to take it."

Must be why the Angels seemed kind of flat yesterday.

if it's that hard for him to find a job, imagine the people who are worse off. like in their 40's and 50's.

  • ur doing it rong

I like the image of someone leaping to death, maybe in a frog suit. In this case I think it's fair to say the fall is what killed him.

Suicide note reads: I thought the Yanks could use some help nailing down that win for the home opener.

"The 39-year-old was a former employee of Salomon Brothers"

Didn't Salomon Brothers fold in the 90s? He wasn't able to get work since then?
