Holder Says 9/11 Terror Trial Could Be In NYC. Maybe.

2010_03_eholder.jpg U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee that the Obama administration has not ruled out trying Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his alleged terror plotting cohorts in New York City, saying a NYC venue is "not off the table," though the White House has been taking "into consideration the concerns that have been raised by local officials, and by the community in New York City." Hold also pointed out, "The Southern District of New York, for instance, is a much larger place than simply Manhattan. There’s also the possibility of trying the case in other venues beyond New York."

The Southern District includes the counties of Bronx, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, and Sullivan in addition to New York. Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) said, "I don’t think the people of New York want this trial anywhere in their state or their city, or the Southern District," while Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) emphasized the Empire State's distaste for a terror trial in the Big Apple. The NY Times reports that Schumer then released a statement, "We know the administration is not going to hold the trial in New York. They should just say it already."

Well, Chuck, the Daily News reports, "White House sources told the Daily News Holder will claim that New York is in play until the decision on the new location is announced." And Holder, who has been accused of boobery regarding the trial, didn't rule out a military trial either.

We should have it in lower Manhattan, just to see how long that jury's out for a verdict. I give it 20 minutes.

The City of Newburgh mayor wanted it in his city.

All this needs is a tent and it'll be a full blown circus.

You left out "Trial" in the title.

  • Thanks, fixed.

There are plenty of nearby places that would work. It doesn't have to be downtown.

And we'll still reap some of the benefits of having the media circus, and that's the best revenge against these scumbags.
