Ringling Gets Permit PETA Tried To Prevent

The Ringling Bros. troupe is biting back at PETA, following the animal rights organization's latest attempt to shut them down. Yesterday PETA asked that feds not renew the circus's animal exhibitor license, but rather let it expire on the 28th. But today the Daily News reports that the license was already renewed last week! The circus's spokesman Steve Payne told them, "This is another indication that PETA doesn't know what they are talking about." He went on to address their charges that they abuse their elephants (which they have released video of), by saying, "Our elephants are amazingly treated. They are the stars of the show. We've been inspected by the USDA so far five times this year." PETA says they are contacting the USDA to revoke the permit.

Wow. This comment tree is full of ignorance and stupidity. Especially "Gotham Extremist" and his very old and over-used acronym that is printed on t-shirts all over Arkansas and Mississippi. You would think New Yorkers would have more sense and be more progressive. Ringling PAYS Brooklyn to perform there and Ringlings crowds are getting smaller and their show times are becoming fewer. PETA's evidence is something that is not defendable by Ringling. Ringling feeds off of ignorant people who don't understand, know, or care what happens to non-human animals. Brooklyn is run by greed and by a big, fat, short man named Marty Markowitz (who only cares about his next meal---which is FULL of animals). Take a good hard look at that and rethink your visit to ABUSEination.

Funny, they took all the time and resources to put together 700 pages of documents and "hidden video" but didn't know the permit was already issued!
