Last Night's Action: A Huge Win

2010_04_erangers.jpg

  • Rangers 5 Toronto 1: The Rangers knew they had to win this game and they came out fighting. Erik Christensen scored just 21 seconds into the game and he added a second goal later in the first period as the Rangers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one. They cruised home from there and they are in control of their playoff destiny. If they sweep the Flyers this weekend, they will be in the playoffs for the fifth-straight year.

  • Yankees 3 Boston 1 (10 Innings): Curtis Granderson had the go-ahead home run in the 10th and Mark Teixeira added a RBI as the Yankees took the first series of the season. Chan Ho Park rebounded from a horrible performance on Sunday with three spotless innings that earned him the win. Mariano pitched a perfect tenth for his second save of the year.

  • Florida 7 Mets 6 (10 Innings): The Mets came back from a bad John Maine start with five runs in the late innings, but they fell in the 10th. Hisanori Takahashi took the loss in his MLB debut.

  • Indiana 113 New York 105: The season can’t end soon enough for the Knicks as they fell behind by 13 points after one quarter and ultimately lost to a lousy club. David Lee had 16 points and 16 rebounds while Toney Douglas scored 20 off the bench.

    No Nets?

I have to say I'm starting to really enjoy the Granderson era. I recently heard an interview with him and seems like a pretty good guy off the field too. Finally, a pickup that a fan can really root for.

granderson seems like a clean, articulate man. but he's no melky cabrera or johnny damon. they were much more fun to watch.

he's much better than that goon johnson though. every shot of him in the dugout he's digging out his nose looking for gold.

He's wanted for negligent homicide in 3 states... Nah, I like him too. I just hope him and Kevin Long put the work in and we never have to hear the whole, "Can he hit lefties?" again.

"ultimately lost to a lousy club."

A "lousy club" that came into the game with a better record than that of the Knicks.
