Buy a Hyundai, Get an iPad

040710ipad.jpg Hyundai announced at the New York Auto Show that they will be offering a nice bonus to anyone who buys their Equus this September; all models will come with an iPad instead of a boring old paper owner's manual. North American chief executive John Krafcik told the Times, “Who reads a 300-page manual anyway? Instead, they’ll have a gorgeous color touchscreen loaded with the manual electronically, as well as photos of the whole Hyundai lineup.” Owners will be able to use the iPad to find the trunk-release switch, schedule maintenance appointments and locate the fuse box. The Equus is priced around $50,000; the iPad currently runs for $499, and blends way too easily.

Lol 50k is still wildly overpriced for a Hyundai :)

Are you sure it's not 15,000? Jaya?

    ;)

Actually, the Equus gets pretty great reviews. It's been sold in Asia for over a year, with a price tag of around $90,000US, and is based on the company's Genesis "entry luxury" sedan, which won a couple of car of the year awards.

It's basically aimed at competing with the Mercedes S-Class.

the article has a mistype... that should be $50K, not $500K.

    that would be ridiculous...

  • eflash

lol, i'm imagining the Hyundai that would cost 500K ... platinum? diamonds?

  • personagratin

    $50,000. Fifty thousand.

  • Gotham Extremist

Anyone who thinks that the cost of the iPad is not added into the cost of the car is a real idiot.

"The Equus is priced around $500,000;"

What? For a Hyundai? No thanks, I'll just buy a Maybach and my own iPad, and I'll still have about $150 grand left over!
