Pillow Fight In Pictures!

Some shots are coming in from today's pillow fight in Union Square, and it looks like there was a big turn out! If you have any photos, send them our way (or tag them "Gothamist" on Flickr) and we'll have more later. Here's some video capturing the madness:

with all the other shit going on in the world and nyc, people really find it in themselves to put their energy into some retarded sensless, non productive shit like this?? Do you go home and look your kids in the eye after that?? Fucking retarded rejects!!

  • starrygordon

It's harmless and stupid, like the people involved.

  • Gothamist_Cynic

There was way too many people there yesterday. A lot of them needed to take showers. Some people just smell really bad. I was there for 5 minutes and decided to leave. Took 10 minutes to get through the crowd. If you're claustrophobic don't go to flash mob events like this.

I will NEVER understand the appeal of stupid "events" like, this, the pantless subway ride, etc. The Internet makes people do some weird, useless shit, man. It's kind of embarrassing seeing people in their 20's & 30's acting out like children in public. (And I'm in my 20's myself.)

Gothamist: where everyone's an expert, and a curmudgeon.

  • FakeHipster

Yeah, those damn kids doing spontaneous fun things! Who do they think they are, trying to shake things up and make life a little bit more interesting!

And while I'm at it, fuck the internet for making these sorts of things happen! Back in the good old days, there was no internet and everyone was staid and I liked it that way dammit!

  • mattyp4

Fair enough. I won't argue against the merits of the interweb... just flash mobs & social networking sites, which I think are for kids. I think you can use the Internet to find a LOT more interesting things to do in the city than a fucking pillow fight! Give me a break.

That said, if you ask me, I think New York City seemed a lot more "interesting" during the "good old days," pre-Internet. I think a lot of people would agree with me too.

I'd be downright embarrassed if in 20-30 years, New Yorkers looked back & considered these pillow fights part of the heyday of "interesting" goings on in the city. If so, this city is fucking doomed.

And EVERY god damned Internet message board contains self-proclaimed experts & curmudgeons! Where the hell have you been?!

made me realize that I'm older than I thought...

Wandered into it by accident today with the kids. Kinda goofy and fun-looking. Harmless fun, hope the cleanup went well, there were feathers everywhere.
