In September 1999 I took delivery on 2000 Volvo S70. In Feb 2001 they took the car back and refunded the $27,000 I had paid in on the car. That was Volvo after Ford took it over. There was a fixable problem with the car and they couldn't have cared less. I sued them under the Lemon Law. It took all that time and $7,000. in legal fees for them to do the right thing. They did it because they didn't want the car to be declared a Lemon. They discontinued the model that year because I wasn't the only one to have the problem and Consumers Union had downgraded the car from Best Buy to not recommended. Hopefully the Chinese can do better.

I think he's trying to point out that people used to buy more lotto tickets and spend more at the OTB.
