Mother Nature would like you to remember that she is a mercurial beast. The old gal plunged a cold front through the city this morning. The rain ahead of the front raised the monthly total to 6.31 inches. That's only .02 inches away from making 2010 one of the ten rainiest Marches ever recorded in Central Park. No more rain is expected today but it is going to be cold and blustery. Look for 20-25 mph winds with higher gusts and a temperature dropping into the mid 30s by late afternoon. You did bring an extra layer to work today, didn't you?
The cold air mass and good radiational cooling add up to a low around 27 tonight. Believe it or not that will be the first time this month that the temperature will have fallen below freezing. Tomorrow is expected to be sunny and cool with a high in the mid 40s.
A little warmth creeps back into the area on Sunday ahead of yet another storm system that appears to be heading up the Ohio Valley. Look for a near-normal high of 53 under thickening clouds. Rain could be here again as early as Sunday night but Monday is the better bet.
