Cop Hit in Eye with Chair During Teen's iPod Freakout

032510ipod.jpg A disturbed teenager's fight over an iPod almost cost a cop an eye last night in Crown Heights. The incident started around 5:30 p.m. when Jarae Hoe, 14, started punching his younger sister because she wouldn't hand over her iPod. The situation escalated, and Jarae, who has "emotional problems," broke some furniture and punched the walls. By the time police arrived, he had hidden up on the roof, so the cops departed. But Jarae soon returned and started fighting again. His mother tells the Daily News, "He got a knife and he started going crazy. He just got crazy out of control."

As cops arrived for the second time, Jarae had just smashed a chair into a wall, and he allegedly threw one of the chair legs, hittting one cop in the eye. The unidentified officer was taken to Kings County Hospital, and one source tells the News, "he is is going to be okay. He's not losing an eye. He just has minor scratches." Jarea's sister sustained bruises to her cheek, and Jarae was taken away in handcuffs, but no charges were immediately filed. In the aftermath of the chaos, his father explained, "My son had a bad day." At press time, it was unclear what happened to the iPod.

Everybody knows that teens will trash their crib if they don't get their iPod pacifier.

The kid needs a Valium prescription.

A part of my sympathizes with the long suffering mother and sister of this crack pot.

No wonder that two years ago all those parents left their unmanageable teens and tweens under the Nebraska Safe Haven Law while the law's wording still allowed it.

Are there any cheap apartments in Crown Heights? It seems like an exciting place to live.

Jarae Hoe. Is that his mothers maiden name or the name she uses on her business card?

  • Soggy

Why is the phrase emotional problems in quotes? Obviously there is something mentally wrong with this kid, it's not like he was just being an asshole for the fun of it.

  • Politburo

The phrase is quoted from the News.

""My son had a bad day."

But still a good boy, nevertheless.
