We need hardly remind you that today is International Waffle Day, the most waffulfilling day of the year! But if you haven't already had your fill of waffle-related food products, you can top off the celebration with FREE waffles all day from the delicious Wafels & Dinges truck, which is parked over on 46th Street between Fifth and Sixth until 4:30 p.m. There's just one catch: You MUST be wearing one yellow article of clothing (Belgians are crazy about yellow, dating back to some 12th century duke's rad coat of arms.) Allow owner Thomas DeGeest explain the long list of wardrobe rules in this thorough video below. (SPOILER: If you're wearing a yellow bikini you get two free waffles.)
By the way, if you're curious about the origins of International Waffle Day, Mr. Breakfast says, "It originated in Sweden where it is called Våffeldagen. It occurs nine months to the day before Christmas—the day the Archangel Gabriel told the Virgin Mary that she was pregnant. As the holiday progressed, it also began to commemorate the first day of spring. Waffles come into play because on March 25th the women of Sweden would set aside their winter tasks like chopping wood and knitting, and began their spring tasks... the most notable of which was preparing waffles." (While wearing yellow bikinis, we vividly imagine.)
